Promoting european Values and Human Rights

The main theme of the project is the Democratisation Process of the Western Balkan countries. Today, the new generation in the Western Balkan countries is facing the challenge of creating a democratic community with freedom and human rights.

Our objective is to foster the understanding of democratic processes, applying practical tools and means of democracy today, and to enhance a mutual understanding of democracy that can be valid for all countries.

Furthermore, we aim to develop strategies for increasing the democratic participation in the community. Being the decisive element in the next decades to come, young people will have to understand that the possibilities of participatory democracies are given, yet need to be used and utilized for full implementation of a real democratic habitus.

This event will bring together representatives from different countries, young people that play an eminent role in their societies. These are student and youth representatives, aging in the beginning of their twenties. They are open minded for international exchange and cross-border cooperation and are the best tools to overcome apathy and mistrust towards the neighbours in the Balkans.

The meeting will not only enable a get-together, but also the active input of these youngsters about the state of democracy and the development of the situation of human rights through series of lectures and workshops moderated by project partners. There is also a planned field trip to Vukovar to the war memorial. The study trip will be concluded with a border crossing to Serbia and meeting young people there to illustrate that also beyond the borders people face similar problems and to point out the need for a stronger integration of the region.
